Algiers Point - Canal Street ferry temporarily suspends service; moves to new temporary location

  • November 4th, 2021

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will suspend ferry service along the Algiers Point – Canal Street route at the end of service on Monday, November 8 due to ferry terminal construction and the end of the temporary lease of the landing barge at Mardi Gras World.

A terminal-to-terminal bus bridge will be provided from Tuesday, November 9 through Thursday, November 11 until temporary berthing reopens in front of Audubon Institute. The temporary terminal-to-terminal bus shuttle will begin operations at 6 a.m. departing from the Algiers Point ferry terminal. The final shuttle will leave the bus stop at Canal St. and Convention Center Blvd. (Stop ID 8237) at 8:30 p.m. The bus bridge will operate from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Ferry service will resume at the temporary berthing location in front of Audubon Aquarium on Friday, November 12. The new temporary berthing location will be able to accommodate ADA riders and those with bikes and scooters. Riders are encouraged to pre-purchase fare using the GoMobile app and all riders must wear masks while onboard the vessel.
