RTA releases 2022 Mardi Gras Rider Guide

  • February 11th, 2022

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) released the 2022 Mardi Gras Rider Guide. The guide is an essential tool for those utilizing transit throughout the carnival season and includes pertinent information from route detours to service impacts, and more. The guides are available on all RTA vehicles and can be downloaded from the agency’s website at www.norta.com/Mardi-Gras.

RTA reminds riders to plan ahead and build extra time into their travel plans due to many routes being on detour. All bus and streetcar detours will begin two hours prior to the start of a parade and will remain in place until the parade has cleared and service can resume safely. RTA will have unique route detours for Endymion parade (February 26) and Mardi Gras Day (March 1).

The agency also stresses the importance of pre-purchasing your fare through the RTA’s GoMobile app to speed up boarding. All fares and passes are available for purchase and storage within the app. The app can be found on the Google Play or Apple App store. Physical passes are available for purchase at select Walgreens stores within the area and at the RTA offices located at 2817 Canal Street from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.

Riders are reminded that masks remain required on all RTA buses, streetcars, and ferries.

For more information, riders can visit the agency’s website at www.norta.com or call Rideline at 504-248-3900.
